On-going Elephant DNA collecting in southern Thailand.

On January 25, 2017, officials of Sadao Wildlife Checkpoint collaborated with officials from Wildlife Conservation Division (Protected Areas Administration Office 6, Songkhla), Livestock Development, and Provincial Administration Office in collecting elephant blood samples for DNA inspections. The operation was done in accordance to Thailand’s National Council for Peace and Order’s (Number 60/2016 dated September 28, 2016). The samples were collected from 4 elephants around Ban Chang Hai Buddhist Temple in Khlong Kwang Sub-district, Na Thawi District, Songkhla Province. The checkpoint then also participated in a joint staff meeting between government and private sectors at   Admin Office Building, Ban Prakob Customs House, Songkhla Province.
